- Rheumatology. Diseases of joints, bones and connective tissue, where inflammation caused by the immune system affects several organ systems. Common joint diseases: rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and crystal arthropathies. Systemic joint diseases: lupus erythematosus and systemic sclerosis.
Education and experience
Santa Miķēna has obtained 2nd level professional higher education in the internal medicine speciality of the medical studies programme at the University of Latvia, which was later supplemented with 2nd level professional higher education in the specialty of rheumatology.
