Monitoring of Parkinson’s disease with a Holter device

Monitoring of Parkinson’s Disease

GK Neiroklīnika provides an opportunity to perform the monitoring of Parkinson’s diseases by means of a special Holter device intended for this purpose. Currently this examination can be performed free of charge.

The device for the monitoring of Parkinson’s disease continuously records the movements of the patient. It registers movements all day long, including the parameters of gait, posture and potential falls. After the analysis of the recorded data, the physician may apply an individual therapy plan to reach a better result.

Duration of the examination

Approximately 5-7 days.

No preliminary preparation is required.

The examination is safe, non-invasive and painless.

There are no limitations.

Advantages of the method

The possibility of registering the motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

The physician can assess the actual condition of the patient and provide recommendations to improve therapy.

Principles of monitoring

The Holter device for the monitoring of Parkinson’s disease operates autonomously and does not require recharging or other manipulations during the period of monitoring. A device with sensors is applied on the body of the patient under the clothes in a comfortable, unnoticeable belt and the patient must continue their usual routine daily activities with it. The data are usually registered for 5-7 days.

This method is not intended for diagnosing the disease, but for the evaluation of the actual health status of the patient in order to apply an individualised therapy regimen on the basis of the obtained information.
